Swallow and the one who shall forever be known as Swiss have spent their youth just getting out there and riding stuff for the shear fun of it. From skateboards and in-lines to BMX and MTBs. Then Downhill! As it took off so did they! Flying to mountains to hit the slopes on skis or board does it matter?
Being brought up on the beaches of Poole the water was ever present in their lives, surfboards and windsurfers have been joined in the toy box by wakeboards and kite boards! Now, slightly older (in body but by no means mind) they still carve it up, wherever whenever.
Unfortunately, work gets in the way of so much Why is it always sunny Monday to Friday then rains all weekend? Anyway, in early 2007 sick of the rat race they decided it was time to forge a new path. A path that would make doing what they love their life…
“Let’s make amazing clothes that we can wear on our adventures!” said Swallow. “We can call ourselves SWISS AND SWALLOW!” A brand was born.
From that point on the wise Chinaman’s words stuck in our minds and we never looked back. Of course we are a planet friendly lot and knew straight away that the clothing we made had to be kind to the environment.
Today, Swiss and Swallow has an ideal that we aim to stick to. “We have to be Eco Ninjas! Leave no trace!”
It’s taken a while to get it right but here we are. Our T-shirts are made from organically farmed cotton. The cotton is turned in to clothes in a fair-trade certified factory. The dies that colour our T’s are non toxic and have no harmful impact on the planet. Even the labels are made from a tree pulp! The whole process helps the local community and environment in equal measure. We ship overland From Turkey (the closest supplier we could find to the UK) as it has a lower carbon footprint than by boat.
The 200gsm (grams per square metre) cotton we use makes our T’s the thickest organic T’s you can buy today. That makes them strong. Because the material haven’t been treated with chemicals they stretch and move with you like a second skin! Perfect for when you do come a cropper!
